From idea to implementation.

A look at the projects, decisions, and experiments shaping my development practice.

PROJECT / 01 · NATIVE iOS

MyQTH

One location. Several ways to describe it.

A location utility for amateur radio operators, built with SwiftUI, MapKit, and Core Location. An interactive map connects your position to Maidenhead, latitude/longitude, UTM/UPS, and MGRS coordinates.

02 / ENGINEERING APPROACH

The decisions matter.

The interesting part is understanding why a system behaves the way it does—and making that reasoning clear.

01

Understand the system.

Start with the problem, the user, and the constraints. Trace the boundaries between components before adding complexity.

02

Make behavior explicit.

Give responsibilities clear homes. Think through inputs, state changes, and failure paths as part of the design.

03

Verify and explain.

Build evidence for the result. Document the tradeoffs, what has been tested, and what still needs work.

03 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE LAB

A different route.
A systems perspective.

Curiosity has always
been part of the work.

I’m Ryan Clarke, a Naval Aviator and military educator with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, exploring a transition into software development.

My Navy career has centered on complex systems and helping others understand them. Outside that work, I’ve pursued hands-on projects in Swift, embedded systems, FPGA development, and cybersecurity challenges.

Fox Run Labs brings those interests together. The name comes from our family’s home, The Fox Run—a personal place for building, learning, and sharing the work.

04 / WHAT’S NEXT

Let’s build something useful.

I’m interested in software development opportunities that value careful reasoning, clear communication, and practical problem-solving.
